Ever wanted to know what the weather is going to do for the entire day, and even what it’s doing where your friends around the world are? Well look no further – Skywatch is here.
My blurb says…
It’s an entire day on a clock.
Add your people, view their sky.
Change the look and make it yours.
A bit whimsical but you get the point.
The Data
Like with MatService, the weather data via Open-Meteo, (CC BY 4.0) and it’s privacy centric using Fathom (just to know how many people are using the tool) – everything else stays on your browser. Nothing stored and it’s all instant.
The Weather
You can see the weather in two formats, circles or rings and you can see the whole picture in one go, not just a glance at the hour you’re in like in normal weather apps. You can see the temperature, precipitation, wind, and UV index. I think it’s great for adventures as you’re not just checking if it’ll rain, you get a view of the sunrise to sunset weather conditions too.
The People
The people system is where it gets fun for me with friends across the world. You can “add your people” which gives them a spot on the clock, and you’ve got a live snapshot of everyone’s sky! If you’ve got family in London, friends in Tokyo or someone who lives in Everest Base Camp, you can see it.
Next Steps…
One thing I do want to bake in is the different locations in YOUR timezone. I’ve not yet cracked that, but will be in a future update. So you can see what it’s like at home and in the mountains… leave it with me!
