Team Management & Capability Growth

I coached at Extra Mile Runners for five years, helping runners of all levels chase goals that had nothing to do with talent and everything to do with consistency. Before that, I was a start squad coach for British Orienteering's World Class programme, working with athletes who were already elite and still needed someone to push their ceiling higher.

Both roles taught me the same thing I now apply to managing teams at work. People don't grow because of more instruction, they grow because someone hands them real responsibility and a pace that stretches them without breaking them.

My job as a manager isn't to have all the answers. It's to ask the right questions and then get out of the way.
