Digital UX Design

Running Bivouac Outdoor's group of sites, including Natureshop and HighBeam, meant designing for several different customer mindsets across one shared platform. A hiker buying boots and a climber buying rope don't make decisions the same way, and the UX had to respect that or it cost us sales.

That taught me UX isn't decoration. Every extra click, every unclear label, every moment of doubt costs you a sale, a signup, or a booking. Good UX is invisible. Nobody thanks you for a smooth checkout, they just complete it and move on.

I'd rather spend a day removing a confusing step than a day adding a clever one. Confidence for the user always beats cleverness for the designer.
